Yesterday was my Son's 8th Birthday
And since we are having a big Party this weekend
We didn't do the whole shebang
I want ed it to be a "dry run" in terms of coloring the batter because I wanted to do rainbow cakes for the party Saturday...
Colored batter.
I freaking love gel food coloring btw
Got my jars ready.
I didn't spray them before hand...
Frankly, because I forgot...
I just dropped the batter in by spoonfulls,
If i were to make these again I would try to make it more like layers than just dollops or batter
Mine don't look nearly as pretty as the ones on pinterest from the side, but once you cut into the cakes the colors were so beautiful and vivid!
I will probably make the colors brighter for the big cakes on Saturday though.
Gracie was napping {and is a super grouch when you wake her up from one}
And so it was just me and Tristan and Daddy, so Elliott and I sang very badly for him
{as my father taught me to sing happy birthday, lol}
and the 3 of us ate our jar cakes with my special cool whip frosting
{see Pumpkin Better Than Cake Success post}
I love Birthdays, and I especially love making them special for my kids.
This weekend is going to be so much fun with our double dragon party!
I'll be blogging it sometime next week if i don't get trapped under the avalanche of schoolwork!
