I haven't been to very many places.
I've been no further west than Jeff City, MO
No further north than NYC
No further south than the Florida Keys
and no further east than the land will take me.
Which serves as a decent segue into what is my favorite place
The Beach.
Onslow Beach, NC |
I realize this is a somewhat general statement.
There are (I'm sure) millions of beaches.
But quite frankly, I just don't really care
just give me any beach and I'll be happy!
I love the salty smell in the air
initials carved into the pier hand rail Tybee Island, GA |
the feeling of wet sand under your feet
Elliott & Tristan Onslow Beach, NC |
the gorgeous tan that you can get nowhere else
Me and Tristan playing at Onslow Beach, NC |
the way that in the summer its like a full 5-10 degrees cooler there
Surf City, NC |
the sounds of waves crashing and seagulls fussing
Tristan chasing gulls at Onslow |
The crazy bright colored houses, hotels and shops
Little shops under the gazebo Tybee Island Beach, GA |
view from the pier Tybee Island, GA |
people watching on long piers
Tybee Island Beach pier |
Playing like children
Tristan building a sandcastle Surf City, NC |
Tristan buried in the sand Surf City, NC |
body surfing
getting smashed by the waves
the way the sky seems so bigger somehow
It's just awesome.
End of story.

I love the beach so much. It's such a tranquil place. It's easy to get lost in your thoughts while staring off at the waves and the horizon. All the views are perfect and unobstructed when you're at the beach. I've always wanted to go to an east coast beach. It feels so far away. The furthest east I've gone is Minneapolis. I've got some traveling to do :) But I do love going to California. It's about a 12 hr drive from Salt Lake. We're going in April, so hopefully I can get that lovely beach-tan.
You could say I've been at the beach my whole life. I've been blessed that way!
I used to lived in Huntington Beach, CA, ("Surf City"), where I learned to surf at age 44! It is a very difficult sport to learn! The ocean, sun and sand are so much fun and beautiful, none of us ever took it for granted.
Now I live in the high desert where yesterday morning it snowed!, and we have the most gorgeous sunsets!
I still prefer the sea, but for now I'm happy with these evening views and brilliant stars!...
I love the Beach!! Originally from upstate NY and got to the Jersey shore often - now living in the midwest so we like to vacation at the beach... My 4 farthest locations are Greece, Venuzuela, Orange County, CA and Montreal... Love to travel! Thanks for stopping by and following! Good luck in the giveaway, Deb
