Wise Words Wednesday # 8

I know that I have the issue now and then when things get difficult or tense where I look at myself and think, "Ugh, what the point??  Why am I trying so hard?!"
This verse from Galatians stays on my inspiring passages list for just that reason
So that I can look at it and remind myself,
Nothing bad can come from doing good.
Sometimes the good that can come takes longer than we may like, but it's on the way.

Just be still and wait for it.

Wise Words Wednesday # 7

I'm off of Swifty at the moment, however, I do love this line from "Ours"
I think we have all been able to look back at how either someone treated us or how we treated someone and realized the REAL reason for the throwing of stones and felt a sheepish for not noticing it before.

I have spent a good deal of time the last couple of years seeking out people who I know I have not been as kind to as I should have been, not only to make myself feel better about my poor behavior, but also, hopefully, to give them some assurance and closure.

It's hard to admit you're a jerk.
But I have done it.
And I think all parties are better for it.

Wise Words Wednesday # 5

I took this picture out in my front yard of our pear trees when they were in bloom this spring.

They were so gorgeous
and I remember wishing they just looked like this all the time, and that got me thinking to how temporary everything here on earth is.

That's why I chose this verse from Isaiah.

I Turned My Dog into a Scarf...

For those of you who follow me on Instagram you have seen your fair share of animal scarf pics (mostly foxes, because I have made several now)

A couple of weeks ago a fellow Irish Wolfhound owner started following me on IG and suggested I make an Irish Wolfhound scarf too!
What a Brilliant Idea right?!
So I went out and got some awesome yarn and got busy and this is how it turned out:

My son took these pictures and snapped this one while I was repositioning...  I look too ridiculous in this pic not to share it.  lol.

Wise Words Wednesday #2

I took this picture myself.
These are my son, Tristan's hands holding a dirt clod.

you may recognize this picture from the visit to the park we took earlier this year where the boys were skipping these clods on the lake,
If not you can check out all the pics here.

I wanted to emphasize the hands and how they were covered in dust, and so I chose this verse from Ecclesiastes.

If you like it then let me know in the comments section below and
Feel free to share this, just hover over for pin it button

Wise Words Wednesday #1

I took this photo standing in my field  yard on a gorgeous evening last fall
And it made me think of heaven,
so I paired it with this lovely scripture from 1 Corinthians.

Feel free to share it, and by just hovering over the picture a "Pin it" button will appear.
If you like it, let me know in the comments section below!

Photo Regrets vs. Just Living It

Some of you may have already read in this post that my husband got a new job.
We are SUPER excited and ready for this next big step in our lives.

Well, when we found out that the he had 6 whole days off in a row we decided we were gonna try to have a mini vacay, mostly because with a new job comes a probationary period and no more stocked up vacation days and whatnot and not only that, the new job is an hour and a half from where we live now, a mere 12 miles from my dad and step-mom's front door (Or "Cookie" and "Bandad" as they are called here)

So we thought we should absolutely take advantage of this awesome opportunity while we had it and had no idea when we would have another chance.

We had talked a lot about going snorkeling in the keys and with six whole days we could totes get down to Key Largo and snorkel it up to our hearts content!
Well....  That my sweet friends did not work out.
We were insanely bummed.
His boss informed him that even though he was scheduled to be off those 6 straight days that he had to come in on Saturday to work a festival in town, right in the MIDDLE of the formerly awesome off days.

My Very Favorite Place

I haven't been to very many places.

I've been no further west than Jeff City, MO
No further north than NYC
No further south than the Florida Keys
and no further east than the land will take me.

Which serves as a decent segue into what is my favorite place
The Beach.

Onslow Beach, NC

My Viking

For Christmas this year I commissioned my sweet and ever-so-talented friend +Lisa Gullion
to make me a gift for my husband.

He is Swedish and very proud of it,
So I had her make a viking helmet for him and a detachable Viking beard

So, I just wanted to show off some pics of my amazing friend's work
and how cute my husband looks in it.

Here he is fluffing it out so Linda and I can take pictures
Maggie seems to like it!

A Girl and her Giant Dog

My husband works swing shift, so he is always switching days to nights and back
It's exhausting.

So, sometimes the kids and dog can only stand so much quiet time in our small little house and we have to get outside and release some serious wiggles!

Cute-Looking Chaos - Photographing the Kids and Dog

Let me just say that I am the WORST holiday procrastinator ever....

I CONSISTENTLY:
-wait until the morning of Valentine's day to get Tristan's valentines
-wait until the Saturday before Easter to get the stuff for Easter baskets
-wait until a few days before Halloween to get costumes
-And wait until like the 20th of December to think to send out Christmas cards.

It never fails!
Time just gets away from me so quickly.
So this year I decided I was going to take a stand against....
well..... myself.

I had the idea to take the kids out to a cotton field and take some nice Christmasy looking photos because the cotton looks like snow when you look out across it.
I thought I could shop them a little and make our own Christmas cards

Well, I got the pics taken, I guess we will see how the rest goes....

Bunny couldn't stop playing with the cotton.

Waiting on a Train...

While on our last trip out of town to visit my Grandmother
our last stop was having dinner with my husband's best friend.

Of course as luck would have it we get stopped by a train when we are already running late....

Adventures in Ooo

I know most of you
{if you're anything like me}
are totally done with Halloween even though it just happened.
So, bear with me, I'll keep it short!

I made the costumes for my kids this year.
The prices on the ones we wanted were jacked WAY up for some reason by the time we got around to shopping for them, so i made the decision to make them myself!
This was a pretty big undertaking considering i am also balancing schoolwork and this blog and  trying to maintain the house.
I think they turned out great!

Handling Anger

This is one of those little pieces of advice that sounds so simple,
but in practice can be a bit more difficult.
