Wise Words Wednesday # 4

I try my best to really take in the beauty around me as much as possible. 

Although sometimes it is just too easy to get caught up in daily mish-mash to stop and smell the proverbial roses.

The day I took this picture it had rained and stormed all day long 

Then in the even it started to clear up and amounted to such a beautiful golden sunset.

So, I thought that this verse from Luke would be really well-suited.

Spring Brings Change...

Spring is not my favorite season, it never has been.  I can't really explain why, it's just always been kinda "meh" in my book.

My husband was telling me the other day why he loves spring so much and I realized I need to start looking for the beauty in spring. 

Upcycled Thrift Store Desk

Tristan, our 8 year old, has been needing a desk for a good while

So, I have been keeping my eyes peeled (what a gross figure of speech, btw!)

for a cool one in the thriftosphere.

 (yep, just coined that... you're welcome)

My Very Favorite Place

I haven't been to very many places. 

I've been no further west than Jeff City, MO 

No further north than NYC

No further south than the Florida Keys

and no further east than the land will take me. 

Which serves as a decent segue into what is my favorite place

This is one of those little pieces of advice that sounds so simple, 

but in practice can be a bit more difficult.

Wet Sunset

If there's one thing I love 

(besides the obvious of course: my husband my children and pizza)

It's a good rainy day.

I never really liked the rain until we lived in Jacksonville, NC for a few years

It rained super often since we were so close to the coast and 

It got to where i really looked forward to just cozying up inside and listening to the rain...

Another favorite thing of mine about rainy days is when it just pours all day long and starts to clear up just in time for the sunset 

Ship Shape @ the Post Office

Today I went to town 

(which by the way is 8 miles away from my house.... I wasn't kidding when I said I live in the country!)

Because I needed to ship a Hiding Hollow Book that I sold on Etsy over the weekend.

(whoop whoop!!)

Georgia Red Clay

For those of you who have never been to Georgia, we don't have "soil" here... 

We have Georgia Red Clay.  

This stuff is thick and dense and difficult to deal with, horrible in the rain because it's slick like an oil spill... 

But it sure is beautiful!

My Big Beautiful Yard

This is a cool little bird's nest tucked away in one of our pear trees out front in the winter.

For my birthday 2 years ago my husband took me shopping for a digital SLR camera.  I had been BEGGING for the longest time, but those suckers are pretty pricey!  So anyway, I got the Nikon D3100 and I freakin love it!  Now I'm begging him for new lenses  ;-)  

I love taking pictures, I always have, and if you could see all the picture folders on my computer you would see that I'm never IN a photo because I'm always TAKING them... that part is kind of a bummer... oh well

The place where I live is extraordinarily rural, like we have a HUGE county and only 16k-ish people living here.  Most of our county is just farmland, and we don't even have a Walmart.... that's right people, I've got to drive 30 miles (COUNT'EM!) to get to my "local" Walmart!

I know, It's freakin' nuts.
