My Week Off from School

You may or may not already know that I'm going back to school.
I go to Liberty University Online and I love it!

However, (isn't there always a "however??) I love my off time as much as any other stable-minded person.

I started school in January and it has been so rewarding and fulfilling for me!  Albeit i am very busy nowadays compared to before I started school, I still love having more structure in my life, and most of all, knowing that I am working towards a goal, and bettering myself. Not to mention setting an example for my children!
What a blessing!!

I have not had more than 2 days off from classes since spring break (march) of this year!  So when I looked at the course schedule and saw that I was getting a fall break for an entire glorious beautiful week I was stoked!

 This past week was my fall break.
It didn't go quite as well as I would have liked, but a week off is a week off, ya know?

I started off the week with a terrible sore throat and a bad cough to go with it.
It was so uncool.
But the way I had to look at it was that at least when I was feeling so crappy I didn't have to worry about really doing anything extra.
Score 1 for positivity!!
{Even though I felt bad I did get some blog posts published so that was good.}

I made Sunday "dinner"  for my dad, Linda and my family (Elliott was on night shift so we had Sunday late-lunch).
It was super good too.
Stuffed shells, I made up the recipe, so that was rewarding that it turned out so delicious!
booya!

and we got to watch the Space Jump while we ate

{did you watch it?! it was so cool!}

We got a little bit of work done on Tristan's awesome thrifted desk!

We went to our home town {about 3 hours drive away} and visited with my grandmother who just turned 91!

Got stuck waiting on a train...

and Still made it to dinner with my husband's best friend and his girlfriend on time!

took a mirror photo of myself while we waited, lol.

Got my ugly ugly green carpet nice and clean with my uber awesome steam cleaner.
I had not cleaned the carpet since before we got Maggie.
It was....  well..... not clean.  So this was a good thing that I had the time to move everything and clean the crap out of it!  Even if i was working on it for hours and didn't get done til after midnight!

my husband got to go hunting {it's deer season!} with one of his friends who is a farmer {oh yeah, it's country out here y'all!} and he brought me home a HUGE bag of green {raw} peanuts!  I was so excited!  I'm making some boiled peanuts here soon, I just need to go and buy a TON of salt!
If you have never tried boiled peanuts, then you haven't truly lived!

Bunny got a big girl bed
{another cop friend of my husband's GAVE us his child's old toddler bed!}
and so we went to Target and got her some cute sheets for it.  She loves them!

I decided too that I am going to make each of my kids a granny square blanket that matches their bedding.  so I started on that.

Their birthdays are next month (the 13th and 28th) and so i guess my school schedule will dictate if i can make them birthday presents or if I will have to push it back to Christmas.

I found out that Gracie is pretty great at dressing herself like a hipster
...... I'm not sure if that's a good thing....

had the best meal on earth.... Pizza and beer!
{AM I RIGHT?!}

on top of that, I did all my running that i was supposed to during the week and lost 2.4 pounds!

Gracie is starting to get the hang of potty training!  we had 2 days without accidents!  woot woot! I can't wait to get out of diapers!

The only real bad thing about the week, besides starting off sick, was that I was kind of trapped at the house for the most part.  You see, I had a rental car these past few weeks {i'll explain why in an upcoming post} and so I couldn't take the dog anywhere....

You may be asking why is this trapping you at home?
Well, It's trapping me at home because my husband has been on night shift.
still confused?
yes, well, our dog, despite being gigantic, is still a great big baby.  I can't leave her at home while my husband is sleeping after working all night because she will cry and fuss and beg to play, instead of just sucking it up and taking a nap.  So, anyway, that really tied me down.

Finally my husband was like just leave her here and go somewhere before you go crazy!  so i did.  and I felt better.  I'm quite a restless person.  I NEED activity to keep from going insane!

So all in all I had a week off.... from school anyway!
I'm sad it's over, but I can only be idle for so long!
So now it's back to work!

They are simply that, boiled peanuts. You just put them in a pot of water (or a slow cooker) with a truck load of salt and boil the bejeebers out of them. when they are done the peanuts inside the shells are soft and warm and uber salty! Oh dear, it took a huge effort to get all of this done in one week! lol, and i had so many more things on my list to boot! :) Crochet is awesome! it is so soothing (to me at least) my friend Lisa is who really inspired me to pick it up, she is amazingly talented with a hook! you can see her blog here: http://onebigluv.blogspot.com/ tell her I sent you! ;) she's my best bloggy buddy! <3

Lots of things going on with you during your break. I just finished my Masters on line last month, do you like online classes? I really enjoyed them because of their flexibility that's for sure. Good luck with your studies. :) Megan
